uhuru apparel
Uhuru (noun) -- Kiswahili word meaning “freedom”

Who we are: Right now, Uhuru Apparel is run by recruits and volunteers; mostly, just ordinary people with a mission.
What we do: We design our own merchandise, and all of our profits go straight to Africa. Buyers like you keep Uhuru Apparel going.
Why we do it: We believe that God loves all people, and out of love, we want to help those in desperate need, bringing freedom to Africa and its children. Africa New To Uhuru?

Freedom

Behind our backs...
Africa has been called the “Dark Continent” - not because of the dark skin of the native people, but because we tend to know so little about it. We, the Americans, who read the newspaper every day, are often completely unaware of the horrors happening behind our backs.

While we weren’t watching, an entire continent fell into chaos. The Dark Continent, riddled with war and violence, suffering from disease and poverty, full of modern-day orphans and slaves. The prime targets? Children. Children used as soldiers, pawns, slaves. Children living on their own, starving, manipulated and taken for granted and taken advantage of, left alone and helpless amidst the chaos and destruction of war, that darkest side of human motivation.

But they have not yet been completely forgotten. God has not forgotten these precious children, and it is our job to help them. Why us? Because we’ve been given much, as the most prosperous country on the planet. Because we care. Because they’re calling for help, and we’ve chosen to hear them - we choose not to be blind to what’s happening in our world. Learn More.
